How to get there: 

By Air + Ground

  1. Fly to the nearest airport

  2. From Flagstaff Pulliam Airport to the hotel

  3. From Phoenix or elsewhere by ground

    • If you arrive in Phoenix, you can drive up to Flagstaff (about 150 miles, ~2.5 hours depending on traffic). Rome2Rio

    Right from the hotel itself you can start a short, easy hike through the Ponderosa pine forest. It’s a good way to stretch your legs after arrival.

  • Walnut Canyon National Monument

  • Flagstaff Extreme (Adventure Course)
    A treetop ropes/obstacle course in the forest, offering an adventurous option for outdoorsy visitors. 

  • Sunset Crater & Wupatki National Monuments
    A little further out but classic choices — see volcanic landscapes and ancient pueblo ruins. 

  • Old Caves Crater
    A cinder cone near Flagstaff with trails and views over the surroundings, part of Coconino National Forest. 

  • Strawberry Crater Wilderness
    Volcanic terrain about 20 miles north, with hiking opportunities amid cinder cones. 

  • Meteor Crater
    Though a bit of a drive, this is one of the best-preserved meteor impact sites in the world, with visitor exhibits and observation decks. 

  • Grand Falls (Chocolate Falls)
    Seasonal waterfall ~30 miles northeast of Flagstaff on the Little Colorado River; flows strongest with snowmelt or heavy rain.
